this is a very serious tool, but also very limited by using one mic in only. theoretical you are able to use this like a e-drum for real. i tried a piezo for triggering (via headset) and it works very well with impressive dynamic. anyway, a lot of potential, but still very limited in use. wishlist: more quantisation steps ((64,32 and triples) background audio more hardware and iaa inputs (may be multiple outs too) midi controller connection, midi note trigger (gate, pitch), trigger to midi out may give away the fx section, but give it iaa and midi function. i know, you can =)

Impaktor is a hoot to play, quite flexible, so easy to figure out, and very expressive. But the contact mic is very sensitive, and causes random noises even at low sensitivity settings.

iOS 10 compatibility... please!!!

Sure its fun to turn any surface into an instrument but Impaktor also works great with drum triggers! I use my iPhone on a mount and a drum trigger live on stage and it works great. My iPhone is on a mount within reach so I can change presets on the fly. It takes some work but with a little ingenuity, it can be very useful. I do have a few suggestions for the developer; sensitivity is a necessary setting which you have included but just as crucial for drum triggers is retrigger and threshold. This would give users the ability to properly calibrate a drum trigger. Also an audio import function seems like a no brainer to me. We want to play our own sounds too. Adding these features would be expand the demographic of Impaktor from novelty to professional application.

Great percussion app, but needs MIDI implementation. Unfortunately this is unlikely to happen as it would appear to have been abandoned by the developer.....shame

lag seems to be gone, but now the issue is that impaktor "hears" itself, so you cant use looping! if you use external mic connected, the headphone audio signal is routed back into impaktor, so kick drums will trigger hats, etc... even with no playing. synth engine is cool, but looper is worthless.. :::: old review :::: Per another review I read, I agree that something seems broken with this app now. Ive tried iPads internal Mic, and external mic, even connecting to a real drum trigger (which is just a piezo mic in a housing basically) and they all are worthless. Lag is at least I the .1s of a second... Cool sounds, but pointless now due to lag.

I was worried about latency before I bought this - there is none. I was also concerned that I would have to be overly careful about where to place the phone while Im tapping - I dont. This app brings the human feel to the world of iOS percussion instruments, a world teeming with apps that lack velocity control and variable accent control. The sounds it comes with are great but it has enough flexibility for you to make your own. Im incredibly unique instrument for five bucks - its a steal. For the people that arent giving it five stars because they cant use it on stage or find a way to work with its limitations... people just dont use their brain and find ways to work around obstacles. Even the most prestigious studios in the world have limitations. It uses a live sound source as an impulse generator, its got to be quiet. Duh. If youre having retrigger problems youre probably putting the phone on a surface that is too resonant. If you want to use it on stage get a korg wavedrum. This is exactly what I was looking for to create some ambient tribal experimental electronica and I already know how Im going to do it. Jam out on the table, hit record, trim and loop in AudioShare or cubasis or BM2 and then find the tempo. If I like the sounds and I want to use them on stage Ill sample them and set velocity layers. Problem solved. Its not that hard people you need to try harder. If it doesnt work on your iPad do it on your iPhone. Problem solved. Its five bucks and it doesnt crash. Five stars.

You should add a G sensor mode without mike. If enough sensitivity, no larsen.. Try it!

very nice and versatile app, not only for drum sounds. pleaaaase could you consider adding midi triggering as the mic triggering is not very suitable in most situations.

Impactor is the cleverest, most surprising, funnest, top quality music making app I know of, and its as light as a feather. Anybody with a sense of rhythm (or not) should give it a try. Now the back of my iPad is touch sensitive too, but I wonder if Apple guarantees this function ;)

A little gem, all synthesis, no samples, endless tweaking and creating new sounds... Very inspiring percussive synthesiser/sequencer A MUST

This app is another one of those apps that will simply blow you away! The iPad has become THE musical weapon of the modern musician and this app is an incredible example of whats possible with this platform. Waaaaay too much fun!!!

Usage is pure fun and the sounds are nice. Please add a sampler module and midi out as IAP!

Really wow! I never had that "its not a virtual, it is a real instrument" feeling with any other synth/sound engine/whatever app making sounds. I mean it is not like any other digital instrument, that needs some kind of translation, but something, that I can intuitively use like any other real instrument. And creative people will looove it. The sound design possibilities are also superbe by the way. Thanks to the developer for this! Cool.

This App is really something completly different. I was sceptical but i was really surprised how fast i could come up with nice Sounds. Not only Drums but also with other Instruments supplied with the App. The only drawback so far ist that it does not work with Bluetooth speakers or Bluetooth receivers. All my other Apps work with BT. Mayby in a future Update ?? Hope so than i would give 6 Stars.. (if i could)

Where has this app been all my life, my iPhone is full of music apps and that need to be "GOOD" if Im going to put finger to keyboard. I have to say its like having a korg wave drum in your pocket. Thank you however you are!!!!

What about a AirPlay function ???

A lifetimes dream came true! For all my life I was hitting all things around me constantly creating beats and rhythms ( all zhings means all...) - and now I even can transform this to real music instantly and mix the sounds with my studio gear. A dream. My wish for the next version: Midi via Wlan to my DAW would be great. Thank you for the fantastic inspiration!

A very musical and inspiring app. I do have a thousand ideas how it could be improved, but this is just because its so much fun! If you want to put down rhythmical ideas: buy it. Sounds great. Responds immediately. Easy to use. Perfect Workflow. Impaktor just burns!
